Developmental Disabilities Testing
Developmental Disabilities Testing
Comprehensive Evaluations for Genetic and Neurodevelopmental Conditions
At the Utah Center for Psychological Services, we specialize in comprehensive developmental and neuropsychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults with known or suspected genetic and developmental disorders. Our assessments help families and medical providers understand each child’s unique learning profile, cognitive strengths, and areas of support.
We work closely with families affected by:
Down syndrome
Fragile X syndrome
Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD)
Williams syndrome
Prader–Willi syndrome
Rett syndrome
Other chromosomal or genetic differences
Many of the individuals we evaluate also experience overlapping autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, anxiety, or behavioral regulation challenges. Our evaluations are designed to capture the full picture of developmental, emotional, and adaptive functioning.
What Developmental Disability Testing Involves
Our developmental disability evaluations are tailored to each individual’s communication style, age, and cognitive ability. Assessments may include:
Cognitive and adaptive functioning testing
Language, learning, and memory assessments
Behavioral, social, and emotional screening
Parent and teacher input questionnaires
Review of genetic, medical, and educational records
Individualized recommendations for supports, therapies, and educational planning
We understand that traditional testing methods are not always accessible for children with limited language or significant developmental differences. Our psychologists are trained in flexible assessment approaches to ensure that each evaluation provides meaningful, accurate, and actionable information.
Our Philosophy
We believe that every child deserves an evaluation that highlights their potential as well as their needs. Our goal is to provide families and care teams with clear diagnostic answers, practical recommendations, and resources that empower long-term growth and independence.
Our team has extensive experience working with:
Children with genetic and chromosomal disorders
Nonverbal or minimally verbal individuals
Students in special education or transition programs
Families navigating complex medical and educational systems
Next Steps
If your child has a genetic diagnosis or you have concerns about developmental delays, learning challenges, or adaptive functioning, a comprehensive psychological evaluation can provide clarity and direction.
