Dr. Sara Shugert
Dr. Sara Shugert is a licensed psychologist in Utah. She earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Pacific University. Throughout her graduate training, Dr. Shugert received experience in both clinical and forensic settings. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Utah State Hospital, where she received additional training in forensic psychology, clinical evaluations, psychotherapy, and neuropsychology. After earning her doctorate, she also completed her postdoctoral residency at Utah State Hospital where she conducted court-ordered evaluations for both adults and juveniles, including: competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, violence risk assessment, mental state/diminished capacity, sentencing mitigation, and psychosexual evaluations. Dr. Shugert currently conducts evaluations with both adult and juvenile examinees.
At UCPS, Dr. Shugert supervises doctoral students with her specialized expertise in comprehensive psychological assessments, psychosexual evaluations, and other clinical and forensic assessments. With a career dedicated to evidence-based practice and ethical care, Dr. Shugert provides clear, objective, and clinically sound evaluations that assist courts, agencies, and treatment providers in making informed decisions. Her approach emphasizes thorough assessment, accurate interpretation of results, and clear communication of findings. Dr. Shugert finds a passion in providing supervision to early-career clinicians and doctoral students, supporting professional growth and ensuring high standards of practice.
