We provide presurgical psychological evaluations for individuals preparing for medical procedures where emotional readiness, psychological stability, and behavioral factors play a critical role in treatment outcomes. These evaluations are often required prior to bariatric surgery, spinal cord stimulators, organ transplants, or other major medical interventions.
Our evaluations are designed to:
Assess psychological readiness for surgery, including understanding of the procedure, motivation, and expectations
Identify mental health conditions that may impact surgical outcomes, recovery, or treatment adherence
Offer recommendations for behavioral or emotional support before and after surgery
Provide documentation for surgical teams, insurance providers, or hospital systems as part of the preoperative process
What Our Presurgical Evaluations Include:
A comprehensive clinical interview covering medical history, emotional functioning, health behaviors, and attitudes toward surgery
Standardized psychological testing to assess mood, coping skills, stress tolerance, and risk factors (e.g., depression, anxiety, substance use)
